150 cars, almost 300 pilots
and more than 17,000 spectators
Great weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for the Festival de la Velocidad with a large audience attendance. The races have been sensational, the ideal time with a radiant sun and the spectators have not disappointed, at the same time very numerous and varied.
The third edition of the Festival, definitively consolidates the Festival as one of the major events held at the Circuit.
The final race of the season of the Blancpain GT Series will be remembered for the exciting final battle that took place after three hours and a quarter of the race. Two teams with Spanish drivers triumphed, the Mercedes-AMG Black Falcon by Daniel Juncadella, Tristan Vautier and Raffaele Marciello who won the race with a perfect race and the SMP Racing with Ferrari 488 GT3 by Miguel Molina, Davide Rigon and Mikhail Aleshin who were second after an epic comeback from tenth place 45 minutes from the end. In third position the Emil Frey Jaguar G3 by Alex Fontana, Adrian Zaugg and Mikael Grenier.
Four champions were crowned during the weekend, Rafaelle Marciello Champion Blancpain GT Series and his team Mercedes-AMG Black Falcon Champion of the General and the Endurance Cup. In second place of the general classification is the Spanish Alex Riberas of the Belgian Audi club Team WRT that performs a feat in its first year in the category.
In Blancpain GT Sports Club, Stephen Earle with Ferrari 488 GT3 has been proclaimed winner of the Iron Cup, while the victory in the race was for the first time at the hands of Patrick Van Glabeke, also with Ferrari 488 GT3.
The last Champion of the weekend was the French Cup Cup 308 Racing, in the absence of a race, the young Teddy Clairet won the first race and the title.
In the French GT FFSA GT4 Championship, the double victory of Fabien Michal and Gregory Guilvert with Audi R8 LMS GR4 leaves the outcome open for the last race, as is also the case in the French Porsche Carrera Cup with the victory of the current Champion Julien Andlauer who has options again.
The weekend at the Barcelona circuit has been crowded with more than 150 racing cars, almost 300 riders and just over 17,000 spectators come to see the show, often as a family, to enjoy the pit walk, the session of signatures of the pilots of the Blancpain GT Series, the concentration of modified cars, the successful finals of the Nissan GT Academy and the parade of the Nissan Heritage Parade to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the incorporation of Lucas Ordoñez into his racing program . An endearing environment as there is not in other races or other events and a density of careers that left no rest. The Festival of Speed has lived up to its name thanks to the varied and continuous spectacle during the weekend, with some races that coin the nobility of the Gran Turismo competitions.
The appointment is set in 2019 on September 27, 28 and 29, with a new edition of the Barcelona Speed Festival that will once again host the Blancpain GT Series at its final appointment at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
